AEO’s Executive Chairman of the Board & CEO, Jay Schottenstein, discussed his blueprint for achieving long-term success and building iconic brands while navigating an ever-evolving consumer landscape.
Here’s what he had to say:
On putting the customer first: “The American consumer gives me hope because they are remarkably resilient. Now more than ever, consumers want to feel like they belong to a community, they want to be entertained and they expect a level of personalization. It pushes us to deliver exceptional product, quality, and engaging experiences.”
On technology, innovation and looking ahead: “Success requires us to identify the right building blocks to invest in for the future. You need to understand which technologies and innovations will stand the test of time. I have always been fiercely optimistic — and to lead a great retail business, you have to remain positive. You have to believe that the world is improving, combined with the grit to navigate obstacles along the way.”
