At AEO, we believe we have a responsibility to do better, to be better, to build a better world.
We are committed to showing the world that there’s REAL power in the optimism of youth by supporting causes that matter to all of us and the world. We roll up our sleeves to make a difference in our communities and promote an inclusive workplace where everyone is encouraged to be their REAL selves. In 2021, the AEO Foundation issued over $1 MILLION in grants to community based organizations working to educate and empower teens and young adults.
Count Me In!
In addition to volunteering their time, AEO Associates can give back to their communities through Count Me In! – a charitable payroll deduction program. Since 2015 , AEO associates have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide grants to non-profit organizations which are empowering youth in our local communities. One hundred percent of every dollar donated by AEO Associates supports charities in the regions where they live, work and play.
Below are highlights of a few organizations supported by the AEO Foundation:
Student Conservation Association
AEO strives to build a better world for future generations which is why we are proud to support the Student Conservation Association. In 2020, AEO’s funding supported San Francisco bay area SCA youth in maintaining trees that were planted in 2019, planting additional trees, and supporting other restoration projects to protect fragile ecosystems. SCA’s mission is to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of the environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land. The organization focuses on giving young people the opportunity to grow as leaders, acquire conservation work skills, learn environmental literacy, and work for their community.
Brandon’s Forever Home
In 2020, the AEO Foundation supported Brandon’s Forever Home with critical emergency funding needed as a result of the community impact from COVID-19. Brandon’s Forever Home is an organization located in the heart of downtown Hazleton, PA with a mission to raise awareness about children in foster care and their need for permanent loving homes. The organization assists children in need by offering many services including mentoring programs, a food pantry, clothing and special events that these children otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in.
In 2019, our Hazleton Distribution Center teams wore yellow in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day and to honor the LRJ Foundation.
Homeless Children’s Education Fund
Homeless Children’s Education Fund (HCEF) has been serving youth in the Pittsburgh area since 1999. The organization’s mission is to advance the education of children and youth experiencing homelessness, guiding them to be productive, empowered citizens. In 2020, the AEO Foundation helped to fund HCEF’s Teen Outreach Program- a program designed to confront the challenges teenage youth who experience homelessness face and to offer a college and career road map to success for each individual.
