At AEO, we believe we have a responsibility to do better, to be better, to build a better world.

We are committed to showing the world that there's REAL power in the optimism of youth by supporting causes that matter to all of us and the world.  We roll up our sleeves to make a difference in our communities. We promote an inclusive workplace where everyone is encouraged to be their REAL selves.

Count Me In!

In addition to volunteering their time, AEO Associates can give back to their communities through Count Me In! – a charitable payroll deduction program.  Since 2015 , AEO associates have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide grants to non-profit organizations which are empowering youth in our local communities. One hundred percent of every dollar donated by AEO Associates supports charities in the regions where they live, work and play. Below are highlights of a few organizations supported by the AEO Foundation:

Pittsburgh Youth Leadership

Pittsburgh Youth Leadership (PYL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to taking inner-city, low-income, at-risk teens on biking adventures across America’s most breathtaking roads. The AEO Foundation has supported PYL since 2013 and is proud to have helped hundreds of local teens by showing them that they can accomplish the seemingly impossible as they practice teamwork and build confidence in tackling new challenges. PYL has biked over 250,000 miles in shine or snow and through 49 different states and provinces, and continues to encourage the children of Pittsburgh to defy the odds. The continued success of PYL alumni in their pursuit of higher education, employment & military service provides an inspiration to us all.

The LRJ Foundation

The Lou Ruspi Jr. Foundation (LRJ) is a private, non-profit organization in Hazleton, PA whose mission is suicide prevention and improving mental health. The AEO Foundation is supporting their work through a grant to provide interactive educational programming in schools throughout the Northeastern Pennsylvania region. LRJ focuses on reducing the stigma against mental health and self-harm and increasing awareness & education on general mental wellness, positive coping and healthy relationships.

In 2019, our Hazleton Distribution Center teams wore yellow in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day and to honor the LRJ Foundation.

Green Guerillas

Green Guerillas is a NYC-based grassroots non-profit that helps strengthen community gardens, produce bountiful community harvests, and engage and educate youth in neighborhoods that lack safe green spaces and have limited fresh food outlets. The AEO Foundation supports their Youth Garden Program, which gives teens a chance to be a part of the magic of growing their own food. Our AEO associates have volunteered for Green Guerillas during AEO Better World Community Day, helping with clean up, weeding, and planting.
